Best Easter Ever! b-besides the first one...

Last Sunday was, I think, the best Easter I have ever experienced. I thought it was worth recording here.

My beautiful wife Annie and I started the day off with chocolate-chocolate donuts and coffee from 7-11. Chocolate-chocolate donuts are sort of a tradition for us, since they are Annie's first and best memory of Easter. I felt bad for the crazy lady who rung us up since she had to work on Easter, but felt less bad when she didn't give me change back for my ten dollar bill.

That was before sunrise. Next we went to our (still relatively) new church for a sunrise service. We underestimated how cold it would be and stood outside in the church's garden shivering with only our 7-11 coffee to keep us warm. The "Greenskeeper" (one of the nicknames we have for people who's names we can't remember) made an environmental announcement because, "I'm not allowed to during the other services." We think he's controlling killer robots through wind power.

The service was very short but very nice. Our new pastor is great. We all put flowers into a chicken-wire encased cross, and the very old gentleman we like so much put his in upside down. He also took several pictures.

We talked with Carey about going to church and being an engineer, and he was nice enough to ask us about ourselves in depth. Then we left, being to full of chocolate donut to partake in the pancake breakfast.

Before our next event, we drove around until it got warm. We drove past what was once Cottonwood mall, but it now being destroyed. There's something undeniably awesome about seeing half a building - floors ending in a mess of the inside stuff of walls and ceilings.

Finally it was warm enough to start our new adventure: disc golfing! I had no idea I could enjoy something associated with golf so much! We were terrible, but had the time of our life. We saw a guy get a hole in one over a water hazard. We saw the frost on the ground disappear, holding onto to life in the shadows of trees. And Annie spent as much time as she could watching a squirrel jump from tree to tree.

Exhausted in such a good way, we went on to JB's to have breakfast brunch. We gave our waitress a fat tip for serving us on Easter.

By the time we were done, it was not even noon yet! So much fun, and we still had most of the day to ourselves. Until 5, we just sat around - me playing video games, and Annie reading and napping. When Annie woke up, I amused her with all the different costumes of Kirby.

We went to my aunt's house for dinner with my family. We played Apples to Apples and Cranium, busting up at my dad's attempt to whistle "Wild Thing" while laughing.

It was as near to a perfect day as I can imagine. Thanks, Jesus!

Awesome description of our day, but I think I am most pleased with the fact that I misread the sentence about placing flowers into a chicken-wire covered cross and thought it read, "put flowers in a chicken." I wanted to correct you, but thought it might've been best to imagine such an act. :)

It does sound like a terrific day! My church service was really good too. We slept all afternoon and just lazed around all day. Didn't do anything exciting, but enjoyed the rest. That's what Sunday's are for. I'm starting a new tradition. Long afternoon naps on Sunday. Delicious! That's what God had in mind anyway, I'm pretty sure. God Bless, Celene
